Why Indianapolis?

Sagamore Institute chose Indianapolis as its headquarters city because of its rich history of civic enterprise.  We believe that public policy belongs to all of the public, not just elected officials.  And we prize the history of innovation that has been born in America's Heartland from the industrial age at the dawn of the past century to the policy reforms in education, welfare and health care in recent years.  Sagamore benefits from its Indianapolis perch to survey what works, what doesn't and why and to offer a dose of common sense solutions to a world in progress. Furthermore, Indianapolis is situated within Indiana's larger story of innovation, philanthropy, and foreign trade.
