College Accessibility and Affordability

The rapidly developing knowledge-based economy in Indiana as well as across the nation is demanding a well-educated and well-trained workforce.  At the same time, postsecondary education is becoming more widely available as colleges and universities, community colleges, and technical schools seek to offer the education and training necessary to meet the demands of the 21st century.  In assisting Lumina Foundation for Education in monitoring its ongoing efforts to increase access to postsecondary education, Sagamore recently studied the issue of college affordability and offered numerous suggestions to institutions of higher education and families alike that may help to increase access to degrees.  Likewise, Sagamore studied the adult education system within the state to assess its performance in light of evolving economic and workforce demands.  These studies, along with those pertaining to immigration, have raised numerous questions and offered several recommendations about what needs to be done to ensure accessibility and affordability for all seeking a postsecondary degree.
