Dr. Rex Bolinger

Dr. Rex Bolinger is currently a Senior Fellow at the Sagamore Institute for Policy Research in Indianapolis, IN.  His primary duties are those of serving as Project Director for Team HOPE, (History Opens Eyes, a group of Milken Educators that is working to revolutionize the way American History is taught in schools and colleges across the nation. Team HOPE is advancing the work of Dr. William J. Bennett, former Secretary of Education. Dr. Bennett's books, America: The Last Best Hope, written as a novel with suspense, drama, romance, and intrigue, have captured the hearts of readers and brought excitement and interest to our heritage. Team HOPE is developing the on-line supplements for teachers and students, enhancing the teaching and learning process around these materials.

Dr. Bolinger has served as the Program Manager for the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation in Princeton, NJ, where he helped to create early college high schools at universities in five states, including Tri-State University Middle College in Angola, Indiana.  He was also instrumental in the creation of the Herron High School, a classical liberal arts charter high school in Indianapolis, for which he served as CEO/Principal.  Prior to these assignments, Dr. Bolinger served as a teacher, high school principal, and central office administrator in Indiana. As a high school principal, he led his school to be named a New American High School, awarded by the U.S. Department of Education.  Additionally, Dr. Bolinger has served on the National Commission for the High School Senior Year and continues to be a national leader in high school reform. Dr. Bolinger received his undergraduate degree and doctorate from Ball State University and his master’s degree from Purdue University. He holds a school improvement specialist credential from the University of Nebraska.
