Reagan in the Midwest

February 6, 2011 marks the centennial of the birth of our 40^th president of the United States, Ronald Wilson Reagan. Born and raised in Central Illinois with few resources, Reagan overcame adversity to find personal and professional success in Hollywood and politics and then went on to create a living legacy that transcends time and politics. But it was his Midwestern upbringing and his academic training at Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois where Reagan developed the value system that he carried with him as he headed west and then east on a journey of servant leadership that left a lasting impact on the United States and changed the world.

Sagamore Institute has formed a research partnership with President Reagan’s alma mater, Eureka College, to convene events and produce online content revealing the Midwestern roots and Depression-era upbringing of Ronald Wilson Reagan.
