All compassion is local.  This premise guides Sagamore’s impact investing philosophy and our diligence process.  To attack the problems of poverty and distress in the world, investments must be made by those high performing indigenous organizations with the clearest line of sight into the needs enabling them to attack causes not symptoms.  They also are led by social entrepreneurs who constantly innovate and iterate to solve against ever-changing conditions on the ground.

To give wider context to these individual situations, Sagamore’s think tank researchers will produce an annual Public Good Index for every community receiving Sagamore Renewal Fund investments.  The index will be organized in two sections:

  • Crime
  • Hunger
  • Education Achievement Gaps
  • Homelessness
  • More
  • Nonprofits
  • Philanthropy
  • Volunteerism
  • Social Entrepreneurship

Each of these Public Good Index reports will be made available online to guide community-by-community impact investment decisions.
